Ewa Kopacz – Vice-President of the European Parliament. Ewa Kopacz was born in 1956 in Skaryszew, near Radom. She wanted to become a doctor from an early age, as it is a profession that makes a difference and changes the world for the better. Naturally, she chose to study at a medical academy, specializing in family medicine and pediatrics. Until 2001, she managed the Healthcare Facility in Szydłowiec. She still receives thank-you letters from her patients. She worked many years as a family doctor, pediatrician, and also spent 15 years as a forensic doctor.

Her public activity began in 1998 when she obtained a seat in the Masovian Regional Assembly. In 2001, she co-founded the Civic Platform party and won her first parliamentary seat, representing the Radom district. In 2007, she became the Minister of Health, serving throughout the entire VII term of the Sejm. In 2011, she was elected as the Marshal of the Sejm, becoming the first woman in history to hold this position. On September 15, 2014, she was appointed as the Prime Minister and led the work of the Polish government until the end of the VIII parliamentary term.

After five terms in the Sejm, she decided to use her experience and participated in the 2019 European Parliament elections. As the list leader in Greater Poland, she achieved the best result in the history of the district and won a seat in the European Parliament. After the 2019 elections, she was elected as the Vice-President of the European Parliament and the Coordinator for the European Parliament’s Child Rights. She is particularly involved in efforts to raise public and parliamentary awareness about the tragic effects of Russian military actions against Ukrainian children. She advocates for the creation of a European Health Union, aimed at ensuring citizens have access to the highest quality of healthcare.
