Agnieszka Lajus

Dr. Agnieszka Lajus, Prof. UW, Graduate Curator
Director of the National Museum in Warsaw
Agnieszka Lajus has been associated with the National Museum in Warsaw since the 1990s. Initially, she worked in the Collection of European Art, and from 2018 to 2024 she was curator of the Collection of Polish Paintings to 1914. From February 2024, she served as director of the MNW, and on January 28, 2025, she was appointed director of the Museum following a competition.
She curated many exhibitions, including Biedermeier, Pologne 1848-1918: Peindre l’âme d’une nation at Louvre-Lens, Poland. The Power of an Image or Arcadia.
She is a researcher of painting and art criticism of the 19th century, author of books and scientific articles, and teaches at the Institute of Art History at the University of Warsaw.
