BIO

Jerzy Kwieciński graduated from the Faculty of Materials Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology and holds a PhD in technical sciences. He also completed postgraduate studies for executive management at the Warsaw School of Economics and an international Master of Business Administration (MBA) program conducted by the University of Antwerp, Staffordshire University, the Free University of Brussels, and the University of Warsaw. Jerzy Kwieciński also has experience in academic work and research and development activities, which he gained at the Warsaw University of Technology and as a visiting professor at Brunel University of West London.

He has over 30 years of international experience in strategic planning, managing large organizations, programs, and projects in the public, private, non-governmental, and scientific-research sectors, including the energy industry.

From 1993-2004, he was an employee of the European Commission in the Representation in Poland – managing programs and projects funded by the European Union and participating in the preparations for Poland’s accession to the European Union. From 2004-2005, he was the president of the European Centre for Entrepreneurship sp. z o.o., and from 2008-2015 he served as the vice president of the board. In 2005, he took up the position of Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Regional Development, where he was responsible for coordinating the country’s development policy and cohesion policy, and among other tasks, prepared the National Development Strategy 2007-2015 and the National Cohesion Strategy 2007-2013.

From 2008-2015, he served as the President of the Board at JP Capital Group sp. z o.o., specializing in the preparation and implementation of ventures and innovative projects, including establishing and running startups. During this time, he also led the European Centre for Entrepreneurship Foundation. In 2015, he was appointed Secretary of State in the Ministry of Development.

Since 2015, he has been a member of the National Development Council. In November 2015, he was appointed as the first deputy to the Deputy Prime Minister in the Ministry of Development. From January 2018, he served as the Minister of Investment and Development and from September 2019 also held the position of Minister of Finance, which he held until November 15, 2019. He was involved in preparing and implementing the Strategy for Responsible Development and the implementation of cohesion policy. From January to October 2020, he served as the President of the Board of Polish Oil and Gas Company S.A. (PGNiG) and sat on the Supervisory Boards of TUW Polish Gas, Europolgaz S.A., and was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PGNiG Upstream Norway.

Jerzy Kwieciński serves on supervisory boards as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Pekao Investment Banking S.A. and as a Member of the Supervisory Board of Pekao Leasing Sp. z o.o.
