BIO

He is one of Poland's leading specialists in law and the financial sector. He holds a degree in law as a graduate and professor of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw and in economics as a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics. He also completed the prestigious Legal Professional LL.M. program at the University of California, Berkeley in the United States.
Jacek Jastrzębski combined work in the banking sector with academic and scientific activity. For over ten years he was the Deputy Director of the Legal Department of Powszechna Kasa Oszczędności Bank Polski.

He is employed as a university professor at the Department of Civil Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. In 2017 he was included in "Legal 500's GC Powerlist: Central and Eastern Europe' – a list of outstanding lawyers in Central and Eastern Europe. In his academic activity he deals with civil law, commercial law and financial market law and is the author or co-author of more than 80 scientific publications. His doctoral dissertation and postdoctoral thesis were awarded in competitions of the monthly magazine "State and Law". He has participated, also as a speaker or moderator, in a number of national or international conferences, including on financial market issues.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, acting pursuant to the Act of 21 July 2006 on Financial Market Supervision, appointed Jacek Jastrzębski, as Chairman of the Financial Supervision Authority, effective 23 November 2018.
